Barcelona, March 12, 2015-. Danone and Areas have joined forces to open a new Yogurtería Danone outlet in Barcelona’s Plaça Catalunya. The new outlet, managed by Areas, is located in the metro station. Areas has also recently worked with the frozen yogurt brand on a retail kiosk inside the Espace Evian outlet in Madrid’s Adolfo Suárez Airport (Barajas). In this way, the company is committing to a growth strategy based on agreements with groups that operate in the leisure and entertainment industry. Alongside franchises, this model is the second pillar meant to support Yogurtería Danone’s expansion plan scheduled for 2015 and 2016.
This new opening also implies introducing the Yogurtería Danone business into a new channel: metro and train stations. In this regard, the Retail & New Business Manager for Danone, Ágata Gelaberto, commented: “This is an important opening for us, since by moving into a new channel we are also cementing our expansion plan, which includes both franchises and agreements with strategic partners.”
The Yogurtería Danone in Plaça Catalunya opened on March 10. In a 25-m2 outlet, outfitted according to the brand’s visual image, Danone frozen yogurt and toppings are complemented by an offering of café, breakfast and brunch options, characteristic of the type of food and beverages served in Areas outlets.
