The Belgian natural food brand ‘EXKi’ debuts in Spain at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport
EXKi’s innovative gastronomic offer is centered around ultra-fresh and natural products, organic and fairtrade whenever possible, and consists of a selection of organic coffees and teas, as well as a wide range of balanced and healthy savory and sweet recipes made with the highest-quality ingredients and with the advisory assistance of the prestigious, vegetarian-specialized Belgian chef Frank Fol, also known as “The Vegetables Chef©”. The new establishment makes use of the Grab&Go concept with the objective of satisfying, at any time of the day, the needs of the nearly 50 million travelers who pass through the Barcelona airdrome each year. Based on a philosophy that combines nutrition and well-being with organic and social commitment, in 2016 the brand was awarded the “Best Fruit and Vegetable Fast Service Project” award by the prestigious gastronomy magazine Gault & Millau. It should also be noted that this establishment has a web app which is communicated at the establishment’s entrance where, in 6 different languages, passengers can take a detailed look at the brand’s products, thus bringing the passenger closer to the offer.
The opening of this new EXKi branch forms part of the allocation of 15 new establishments at the Barcelona airport. Areas has already opened 13 establishments at the said airport, such as Javier de las Muelas’ Montesquiu and Dry Martini, the Santa Gloria, Deli&Cia, COMO, Boldú and La Place establishments, as well as five Burger Kings. In the coming months Areas will open a Paul establishment and an additional MásQMenos. The company is currently Barcelona-El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport’s first commercial operator with a total of 29 establishments.
Areas is present at 20 Spanish airports with more than 240 establishments, and with this opening continues to strengthen its outstanding presence at the top five largest airports by passenger volume: Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas where it is the main catering operator with 50 establishments and 26 brands, Barcelona El Prat Airport where it manages a total of 29 establishments and is the main commercial operator, Palma de Mallorca Airport where it manages 70% of the commercial offer, and Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport where 7 new establishments have recently been allocated, in addition to the 2 already managed there, as well as those already mentioned at Alicante Airport.
