Areas opens a new Javier de las Muelas with Montesquiu and Dry Martini outlet at Barcelona-El Prat airport
Javier de las Muelas’s savoir faire in the world of cocktails lands at the Barcelona-El Prat airport with the surprising Javier de las Muelas with Montesquiu Dry Martini concept, a space that offers passengers their favorite cocktails: martinis, mojitos, gin tonics, sours, spritzers and Manhattans as well as Montesquiu’s unique flavors, accompanied by an informal food menu served up as dishes, tapas, sandwiches, etc. This concept, in line with the successful businessman and trendsetter’s trademark, offers iconic products, Spanish wines, and a wide selection of beers. From Montesquiu’s signature sandwiches on French bread to salads, hor d’oeuvres, tapas, deserts, and pastries, the restaurant’s menu is designed to satisfy its guests’ needs throughout the day so they can have breakfast, a snack before boarding or after landing, or even a mixed drink. Thanks to its take-away service, customers can take anything on sale with them to enjoy in the departure lounge or on the plane.
The restaurant has a unique design following the Montesquiu trademark, a classic space whose heritage dates from the 50s with artwork on the walls by artists like Tàpies, Warhol, Haring, Riera i Aragó, Alzamora, and photographs by Eugenio Recuenco which will be changed every few months. There are also display cases will DRY merchandising, cook books, and artwork by students from the Elisava Design and Engineering School.

Javier de las Muelas is highly regarded in this world, participating in different culinary and business forums, publishing with different media outlets, forming part of Ferrán Adrià’s Bullipedia project, and he was the director of the F&B master’s at the Hotelea college.
His experience goes all the way back to the opening in 1979 of the legendary famous Gimlet, a hot spot in Barcelona night life that tore down all the stereotypes about cocktails.
