  • Areas consolidates its leadership at Palma de Mallorca airport with 70% of the food & beverage offering now under its management

    Areas, the third largest operator in the world and the leader in Spain in Food & Beverage and Travel Retail, has taken over the management of 70% of the gastronomic offering at the Majorcan airport. Specifically, Areas has been awarded 6 of the 12 lots that were put out to tender, each for contracts of 3 and 8 years, which include 23 of the 33 tendered outlets and a workforce of more than 400 employees.

  • The Belgian natural food brand ‘EXKi’ debuts in Spain at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport

    Areas, the reference operator of four of the five main airports in Spain for passenger traffic (Madrid, Barcelona, Palma and Alicante), brings the recognized Belgian fast casual brand EXKi to Spain for the first time. The chain, present in Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Holland and Germany with more than 100 establishments, begins operating in Spain at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport with two establishments in T2 which have a combined surface area of more than 250 square meters.

  • The new La Place healthy concept for the first time at the Barcelona-El Prat airport by Areas

    La Place, the internationally famous Dutch food brand, lands in Barcelona-El Prat with Areas, leader in Food&Beverage and Travel Retail, becoming the second opening in Spain after Madrid-Barajas airport last year. Located on Terminal 1’s 2nd floor, the premises are 905 square meters and have capacity for 200 guests.

  • Areas opens the first Carte D’Or Gelateria at Málaga Airport – Costa del Sol

    Areas, the leading company in the Food&Beverage and Travel Retail sectors, has opened the first Carte D’Or Gelateria at Málaga Airport - Costa del Sol. Located in T3's departure lounge, the premises consist of 50 square metres and has the capacity to accommodate up to 20 diners.

  • Areas opens the first MásQMenos at Málaga Airport – Costa del Sol

    Areas, the leading company in the Food&Beverage and Travel Retail sectors, has opened the first MásQMenos bar at Málaga Airport - Costa del Sol. The new bar is located airside, in T3's departure lounge and is made up of an area of 50 square metres and can accommodate 25 diners.

    Areas, leader in Food & Beverage and Travel Retail, opens its first Javier de las Muelas with Montesquiu Dry Martini outlet at Barcelona-El Prat airport, a different innovative concept offering the best selection of dishes, tapas, and cocktails. Located in Terminal 1's Barcelona-Madrid airport shuttle area, the premises is 205 m2 with capacity for 60 people.

  • COMO touches down in airports as a new outlet in the Barcelona-El Prat airport

    Areas, a leading Food&Beverage and Travel Retail company, reinforces its own brand COMO with the grand opening of the brand's fourth outlet in the Barcelona-El Prat airport. The brand, already present in Sants train station and in the La Selva and La Jonquera travel plazas, thus takes the leap to the airport market. Located in Terminal 1, the new outlet features a surface area of 409 m² and capacity for 140 diners.

  • Areas opens the largest Burger King in Spain in the Barcelona-El Prat airport

    Areas, a leading Food&Beverage and Travel Retail company, strengthened its relationship with Burger King with the opening of its twentieth outlet of this popular brand. Located in the Sky Center shopping area in Terminal 1 of the Barcelona-El Prat airport, this new outlet is the largest Burger King in Spain with a surface area of 661 m², 85 employees, two kitchens and capacity for 223 diners.



  • Grand opening of 10 new outlets by Areas in the Guadalajara Airport (Mexico)

    Areas, a leading global company in Food & Beverage and Travel Retail, has put the finishing touches on its consolidation in the Guadalajara Airport (Mexico) with the grand opening of 10 new outlets. The company obtained a 5-year restaurant contract in January for this Mexican airport, the third largest in the country by number of passengers. These 10 openings, which add up to 1,300 m2, complement the company’s current options in the airport, where it already featured 5 restaurants and 12 stores.

    Areas, a global leader in Food&Beverage and Travel Retail, has opened two new Paul outlets in the Ibiza and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airports. The Ibiza outlet, located in the departure area, features 195 square meters. In Madrid, the new Paul outlet is located in the Terminal 2 departure area, Air Zone, totaling 199 square meters.

  • Areas attracts the innovative La Place brand to Spain for the first time

    La Place, the prestigious, internationally renowned brand, has arrived to Spain for the first time in an Express format by Areas, the leading Food&Beverage and Travel Retail company. The Dutch brand has started its activity in Spain in the Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas airport, with a 146-m² space, and will soon open another outlet together with Areas in the Barcelona-El Prat airport based on the food and beverage concession recently won by the company.


  • The restaurant Yandiola touches down in Bilbao's airport

    Areas, the leading Food&Beverage and Travel Retail company, has opened a replica of the famed Yandiola restaurant together with Ricardo Pérez in Bilbao's airport. The outlet is located within the Exploring The World From Bilbao, an innovative and creative concept created in collaboration with Cervezas San Miguel, where fusion cuisine meets the emerging trend of Street Food. The new 352-m² space combines both concepts and is located in the airport's departure area.

  • Areas lands in the Fuerteventura Airport with Burger King

    Today, Areas, the leading Food&Beverage and Travel Retail company, unveils a 9407-square foot outlet which will include a Burger King. Areas will manage this outlet, located in the boarding hall of the terminal's first floor, which also includes a terrace. The new contract is valid for 8 years and will provide employment for 45 workers.


  • Areas touches down in Ibiza's airport with a revamped, trend-setting image and culinary offer

    Areas, a leader in Food&Beverage and Travel Retail services, is shoring up its position as a food and beverage operator at Ibiza Airport with the renewal of the four food&beverage concessions it managed there and now operates with the brands Deli&Cia, Paul, StrEat (with brands such as Rossosapore, Kirei, Can Terra and Coffee & Bakery with La Mediterránea) and Santa Gloria with The Market. The concession, covering more than 10,700 sq ft and valid for eight years, is completed with the renovation of the vending-machine management at the airport for five years. Areas also manages the Café del Mar outlet in the airport.



  • Areas moves into Colombia with a 10 Year Contract at El Dorado Airport

    Areas, the Food & Beverage and Travel Retail leader with international headquarters in Barcelona, will begin operations at El Dorado International Airport (Bogotá, Colombia) with a 10-year contract to manage 8 outlets including brands such as Novecento, Carl’s Jr., Juan Valdez, and Deli&Cia. The company will enter the Colombian market through the OPAIN consortium tasked with modernizing the airport.

    The La Selva Travel Plaza (direction of La Jonquera), with a total surface of 240m2, has been transformed into a modern and functional space which encourages drivers to rest and helps them to disconnect with a carefully selected range of services.
    The infrastructures incorporate the new culinary brand COMO with a broad terrace and cutting edge vending machines available 24 hours a day. La Selva's renovation finalizes the global transformation plan for travel plazas on highways AP-7, AP-2 and AP-68.
